Did you know:
-American children between ages two and 18 spend an average of six hours and 32 minutes each day using media?

-Children, by an early age of 12 would have viewed more than 8,000 killings and 100,000 other violent acts on television alone?

-The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with hundreds of studies of the effects of TV/media violence on children and teenagers have found that children may:

• Become ‘immune’ to the horror of violence;
• Gradually accept violence as a way to solve problems;
• Imitate the violence they observe on television;
• Identify with certain characters, victims and/or victimizers.

-Research has associated exposure to media violence with a variety of physical and mental health problems for children and adolescents including aggressive behavior, desensitization to violence, fear, depression, sleep disturbances and nightmares.
